The sets chase is primarily Booster Fun treatments (Japan Showcase and its premium foils) rather than one single must-open card
The deck plays fairly straightforward, playing out creatures and suiting them up with auras/equipment
While I think that youd want to be running a decent amount of targets to cast out of your graveyard, you definitely dont need to be playing a full-on spellslinger deck for it to be valuable
Delirium, which first showed up in the two-part Shadows Over Innistrad/Eldritch Moon block, is a mechanic that gives your cards a bonus under the condition you have four or more different card types among cards in your graveyard
It does have the Pirate tag, which could be relevant, but I think you can do better in your pirate deck
