The reprints in the set, such as Mana Crypt, Ancient Tomb, Rhystic Study and Vampiric Tutor, offered a chance to spend $20 on a draft, open a chase rare and resell it, then do the whole thing over again
You start with just 30 cards each containing simple, basic characters
For each one you swap you make one free mana you can keep up until the end of the turn
It's cheap, it can give +1/+1 counters when you gain life, and it can give lifelink to a creature
For a while, I went back and forth on this card before finally realizing that it costs only five, which is reasonable for what it does (but we unfortunately cant fit into a deck led by Gandalf, Westward Voyager)
Bilious Skulldweller, Venerated Rotpriest, Crawling Chorus, Glistener Elf, and Skrelv, Defector Mite are all cards you want to deploy on turn 1 to get in that pivotal first hit
