and back then I think the idea was just to have 'horror' represent, well, Lovecraftian/Cthulhu monsters -- before M:TG began to use it as a stand-in for Phyrexian-corrupted monsters and a substitute for demon/devil

Bonecrusher Giant has been an awesome substitution for one of these cards, and while Magma Jet has fallen from grace in much the same way as Flametongue Kavu, I see Twinshot Sniper as another great card to sub in here
