I'd dare wager Wizards didn't put Investigate into Shadows for the sole purpose of Clues being a flavorful motif, but because they wanted the mechanic to properly convey how the world itself worked
Its one of the original cards printed for the game, and it still sees play today because of its efficiency and respectable damage
And as a FINAL FANTASY VIII enjoyer (yeah, that's right!), you only play as Laguna in flashback sequences in the game, and I knew I'd want to get one of those into the set
However, white cards have always seemed to get washed out with it, and its a shame for them that they didnt manage to fix it a bit here, and it is one of the things the new border does well (also: putting the rarity in the corner making life easier for my colorblind self)
This way, you get the potential benefit of opening a premium card in any color but don't have to worry about wavering between colors
