Finally, while this card is not super innovative, I do believe it used -1/-1 counters in one of the most evocative ways ever: I pick on Homelands a lot, but my hat is off to this card
Whenever a creature without Flanking is assigned to block a creature with Flanking, the blocking creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn. Flanking was an interesting, new and fun concept when Mirage was released and has since been used in various sets and there are currently 29 creatures with the ability, 10 of which are in Mirage
