The first collar is engraved with some initials - possibly "HC"The shaft of the whip is covered with finely braided thread and there is a raised spiral pattern under the braiding of the grip

and would have belonged to an officer

The cloth is reinforced with straps of black leather in the area where the stirrup leathers and girth pass

Vintage Gents Malacca Hunting Whip or Crop - w1708 chinese The collar is engraved "EThis whip has a staghorn or antler hook shaped handle with a raised "gatepusher" section. It has a nickel collar with ribbed edges. There is a fine crack in one rib (please look at the images), but there is no instability or movement associated with this. The thick stock or shaft is made of golden brown malacca cane, with its characteristic "teardrop" shaped cross section. It has its original stitched leather keeper or loop and a braided leather thong
