Surge of Salvation | Illustration by Dominik Mayer Magics you have hexproof cards make it so that you cant be the target of spells or abilities that your opponents control
Being able to cast it at any time is important, because of the big chunk of text attached to it: When Orcish Bowmasters enters the battlefield and whenever an opponent draws a card except the first one they draw in each of their draw steps, Orcish Bowmasters deals 1 damage to any target
Given how expensive a lot of colorless cards can be, this can provide those decks 6 to 15 mana a turn easily, and over 40 mana a round potentially
This includes putting all the pieces of a card into a single file (text, frame, mana cost, collectors number, art, etc) to make the card for print
I imagine this pirate being a loyal right-hand man to the captain, sacrificing itself for the crew when the moment is right
Right now Im playing a playset even in Hammer Time, but I recollect playing this card in a lot of different archetypes, from UB control to Ad Nauseam, from Goblins to even Sultai Urza
