Make sure you have a plan for various Llanowar Elves decks, especially Mono-Green Devotion
Today I want to start a five-part series where I look at the art for each of the basic land types in the game
Super Nova As this creature transforms into Sephiroth, One-Winged Angel, you get an emblem with Whenever a creature dies, target opponent loses 1 life and you gain 1 life. Whenever Sephiroth attacks, you may sacrifice any number of other creatures
This version from the Fabled set has five for its cost, attack and resist values
You can't just weave these into any of our products, but when you're doing these one-off cards and you're trying to build a Chun-Li that's gonna go on to live a wonderful life in Commander decks where people are pulling through all of Magic, it just unlocks all of that. Heggen says that Commander is the primary lens through which [were] viewing these, but that theres no arbitrary threshold they have to hit in terms of viability or popularity in the format
Second, being more expensive can be an advantage to a threshold card because that gives you time to get the requisite cards into your graveyard assuming that you're being rewarded for all your extra effort
