You could say Alakazam has been the "poster child" for these types of mechanics

When we play with her, she may wind up not being that powerful, but I doubt it

Battles are huge in this respect, because they force even players who aren't that interested in the board like Control or Combo decks to all of the sudden have this on-board presence they need to protect, which is awesome

If you look at the threads on Boardgamegeek, etc., occasionally there are people that are like, yeah, I tried this game, I dont really get it, whatever, but there are lots and lots of people who are like, Oh My God, I love this game so much
